RADAR 2020

Exhibition New Media Augmented Reality Virtual Reality Video Mapping Motion graphic design

RADAR (Romanian Artists Developing Alternative Realities) supports the local new media art scene by bringing together creative studios and independent artists to showcase their work. Last year the temporary exhibition gathered over 8500 attendees and 50 artists.

Presented by UniCredit Bank, the second edition of the temporary exhibition will innovate with a new immersive show, that will carry attendees through a series of temporary exhibitions and interactive art installations. The tour that will last for two hours was created according to all current safety measures.

The temporary exhibition is dedicated to everyone keen on augmented reality, video mapping, artificial intelligence, interactive installations, game art or sound design.

The temporary exhibition is hosted and organized in partnership with ROMAERO, which celebrates a century of existence in the aerospace industry. It was the perfect context for us to celebrate 100 years of “Romanian aerial fluxes” with a dedicated show. Meet us in Airshed 3, in a generous space of over 5800 sqm. The 900 sqm of video mapping will make everything very animated. Adding another 500 sqm of video projection in the space dedicated to children and the central installation will turn the whole area in an unmissable immersive experience.

FLUX, the theme of RADAR #2, is a reference to the continuous interaction of our world’s elements and to the changes that appear when people, destinies and contexts meet. FLUX is us, FLUX is how we relate to each other, FLUX is the motion of particles and information. FLUX is the space between us that we are continually shaping through what we say and feel about each other. FLUX sees the world as an organism that has been reshaping itself from the very start. A dynamic & fluid, but constantly more structured and stable world. And the public takes the main role, because there’s no FLUX without each other’s feedback.

We’re planning to explore emotion through technology during the two hours that will carry us through:

ACT 1 – IMMERSE | Video mapping & sound design main scene, presented by UniCredit Bank

ACT 2 – LIFT-OFF | Light & sound generative installation integrated in a Boeing 737 fuselage

ACT 3 – “Flux of energy” powered by E.ON Romania

ACT 4 – Flying Dream | Neural immersive video experience – supercharged with AI creativity

Furthermore, the attendees will be able to enjoy a curated selection of new media art projects, a series of animated short movies projected on the side screens and also visit other spaces open all throughout the visiting hours:

  1. CoLaboratory Capsule – a temporary exhibition with the works that won the open call launched by Goethe-Institut in partnership with RADAR
The works are signed by artists from Germany, Romania and the Republic of Moldova and are the result of an imagination exercise related to the changes that the artistic process has gone through in the past few months.
  2. RADAR KIDS – immersive space with an interactive projection dedicated to kids presented by Lidl Romania

The immersive space of the first edition of the exhibition comes back under a new theme: aviation. Furthermore, the public will be able to watch here the animation created based on a collaboration between kids and artists. The animation was produced as a result of the free animation online course that took place during the isolation https://surprize.lidl.ro/radarkids

Due to the current context and in the key with the event’s theme, the show is designed as a journey. Therefore, the access will be done only between the hours mentioned on the ticket, and the visiting time will last up to two hours.

We’ve organized an outdoor waiting lounge. Please arrive there with at least one hour ahead of the visiting time to follow all the safety measures.
